Hot Remix – Young THug
The latest remix off of Young Thug’s album “So Much Fun” dropped on Friday along with a brand new visual, embedded above. The music video is CGI-heavy, which includes enough fire effects to melt your screen. Seriously…the video includes a house fire, showing fire fighters that don’t really seem to be doing their job, plus an array of explosions. There isn’t a real plot/story in the visuals of the video, but it’s okay, because there doesn’t need to be. After all, the lyrics of the song aren’t that deep, so why would the music video?
With the album version of Hot lacking the Travis Scott feature, going back to listen to it feels a bit empty. There is something about Travis’s verse that completes this song. It’s the verse nobody knew needed to be on this song. Even without the new verse, “Hot” is one of the best songs on Young Thug’s new album, however Travis wrapping the song up with a final, (somewhat) lyrical verse ties everything together.
Young Thug and Gunna are two of the most prominent mumble rappers in hip-hop at the moment, but after adding in this Travis verse, which was rapped fast, clearly, and flowed well with the beat, it was like discovering the missing puzzle piece to a song that didn’t seem to have any missing pieces in the first place!
“Remixes” nowadays seem to be flat lining. It’s as if every artist has a hit song, then another version of it with a generic verse from a famous rapper that could be squeezed into any song. Usually these “remixes” are made to revive a dying song, just to milk some more air time/profit (it worked for Old Town Road). But, for some reason, this doesn’t appear to be one of those instances. Travis’s verse fits so well into the end of this song, it just seems so right. In my opinion, this shouldn’t even be a remix. This should be the original version on the actual album.
